NHS Talking Therapies (formerly known as Improving Access to Psychological Therapies or IAPT) is designed to make sure everyone can access therapy for low mood and a range of anxiety problems.

These services provide a range of recommended, evidence-based talking therapies for people who would like support for their mental health.

They offer information, guidance and talking therapies in a variety of different formats including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for anxiety
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma
  • Interpersonal therapy
  • Couples therapy
  • Counselling for depression

These services can also help people with a range of persistent physical symptoms and long-term physical conditions.
