DCF Programme Update January 2024 page thumbnail

There is something exciting happening at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) that's going to make a big difference in how patient care is delivered.

It's called GP Connect, and it's all about giving our staff easier access to important patient info through the RiO Clinical System. This full DCF Programme will give you the lowdown on what GP Connect is all about, why it's so important, and how it fits into MPFT's bigger plans for digital healthcare. Plus, find out about upcoming events and ways to get involved.

GP Connect is a  system that will enable MPFT staff across various care settings to access their patients' GP records through a read-only 'Click Through' feature within the RiO Clinical System. This innovation aims to streamline access to patient information, reducing the need for multiple logins and providing patient data at the point of care, facilitating informed decision making. The information accessible through GP Connect includes active problems and issues, allergies and adverse reactions, medication details, referrals, immunizations, and more, enhancing the breadth of patient information available to healthcare professionals.

The implementation of GP Connect aligns with the Digital Capability Framework (DCF) Programme, which received £1.029 million in funding from NHS England, earmarked for enhancing the RiO Clinical System's functionality and efficiency. Upgrading to the latest version of RiO is crucial for the successful delivery of various DCF Projects, including RiO Video Consultations and National Care Records Service click-through, promising improved features and functionalities.

The Trust is positioned at the forefront of EPR (Electronic Patient Record) developments, being the first of its kind in the UK for RiO testing and functionality upgrades. The plans for the RiO EPR aim to enhance system capabilities for both staff and patients while fostering improved information sharing with other healthcare organisations and professionals.
