Kate tells us about her experience of a simple to use device called the Kraydel Konnect to help her connect to her family at Christmas.

About me

I live alone and have poor mobility and also partially sighted.

I became very lonely and isolated during the COVID restrictions in 2020. I was required to shield due to my age and visitors were restricted.

My family live the other side of town and have very demanding jobs and their own family, which made it difficult to visit me as much as they would like.

My family had encouraged me to use a smart phone for video calls, however due to the small screen I was unable see clearly.

“I didn’t know how I would have coped with Christmas without the Kraydel device”

Staying Well Service

My GP referred me to the Staying Well Service, which is a specialist team providing preventative services to individuals over 55 with mild to moderate frailty who live in their own homes across South Staffordshire.

Following the assessment, a Kraydel device was installed. At first I wasn’t sure I would be able to operate the device or see the controls.

With some practise I was able to use the controls and the device independently.

This device was installed prior to Christmas so I was able to see all my family via the TV to say happy Christmas and feel part of their day.
