In January 2021, I was appointed as the first Physical Health Peer Support Worker based at the Haywood Hospital, and in April 2022 was proud to be made Patient Engagement & Empowerment Champion Musculoskeletal Services (MSK).

Under the guidance of Kay Stevenson I am embedded in the Musculoskeletal Interface Service with the principal focus on developing and fostering links between the patient and carer community, service providers and commissioners. This new role also offers opportunities to contribute to the integration, communication and education elements of the service. Working closely with the Haywood Rheumatology department also figures in my work streams. In essence, I am an interface between service users and service providers.

My background is one of industrial chemistry research but latterly it has been in the world of training with leadership, management and business development featuring very heavily.

Away from the work scene, my passions are rugby – an avid Sale Sharks supporter – and allotmenteering. My Wife Margaret and I cultivate a plot of over 320sq. m of mixed fruit and vegetables.

My commitment to my job and my horticulture works wonderfully for my mental and physical health.
