Trust staff member appointed Diabetes UK Clinical Champion page thumbnail

Congratulations to Sarah Orme, who has been selected as one of just a handful of new Diabetes Champions in the country.

Sarah, who serves as Diabetes Service Manager within the Trust, is among 20 new individuals to have been appointed by Diabetes UK to serve in the prestigious voluntary role for a period of two years.

Each Champion was selected by Diabetes UK on the basis they demonstrated the personal skills, clinical expertise, passion and integrity to help deliver tangible improvements in care for people with diabetes.

Sarah joins MPFT Advanced Diabetes Dietitian Lucy Marquis as a Diabetes Champion and is looking forward to getting stuck in to the role.

Sarah said: “I’m really pleased to have been appointed; quality care is something I believe strongly in. I will be using this opportunity to support the reimagining of Diabetes services to ensure care is more patient centred and encompasses a holistic approach, including psychological and social support which is a move away from the traditional medical model.”

The Clinical Champions programme was designed to identify clinicians with the passion, skills and position to make a real difference to diabetes care and to give them a package of support to turn their improvement ideas into reality.
