Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust’s (MPFT) Application Development team has been shortlisted in the national Forward Healthcare Awards 2019 after using innovative technology called ‘Robotic Process Automation’ (RPA) to reduce time spent manually uploading scanned paper health records, thus ensuring clinical staff can readily access a patient’s most recent episode of care within the clinical information system, RiO.

Through the use of RPA the Trust has saved approximately 10 hours of work per day through eliminating manual checking and uploading of patient data. This has subsequently reduced the time spent manually scanning paper health records by nearly 2000%.

Pete Kendal, Director of IM&T Development said: “As an organisation we are delighted to be shortlisted in the Forward Healthcare Award 2019. This is a great opportunity to nationally showcase the innovative work the Trust is undertaking, supporting our staff to work in a way which proactively utilises technology to save time and provide better outcomes for clinical staff, patients and service users.

“The use of RPA has also both significantly improved staff morale and has enhanced the quality of data which is uploaded into the clinical information systems used across the Trust.”

The award winners for the Forward Healthcare Awards will be announced on 25th September #forwardhealthcareawards
