Specialist services supporting children and families in Tamworth are to be brought together under one roof by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT).

Community Paediatrics and Children’s Occupational Therapy services are due to move the short distance from their current base at South Staffordshire College’s TORC Campus to a new and improved location at Wilnecote Health Centre, in Smithy Lane from 7 December, subject to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

There they will work alongside MPFT’s Health Visiting, Speech and Language Therapy and Children’s Physiotherapy services.

Community Paediatrics and Children’s Occupational Therapy services provide specialist assessments and interventions for children, young people and their families through clinic and community based appointments.

Claire Bailey, Managing Director of MPFT’s Children and Families services said: “Young service users will benefit from using a clinic space at Wilnecote Health Centre that will more effectively meet their specific needs.

“Bringing these services together under one roof also allows for more collaborative working, which will be beneficial as a number of children and families use more than one service.

“In addition, over the coming months the Trust will be carrying out improvement work to further enhance the facilities available.”

Wilnecote Health Centre features free parking spaces for service users, with a designated disabled space available. The clinic is also widely accessible by public transport, and is fully accessible to people with disabilities.

Families will be able to use the same numbers at present to contact Community Paediatrics and Children’s Occupational Therapy services following the move. These are:

  • Community Paediatrics – 01283 505160
  • Children’s Occupational Therapy – 0300 1245 028
