Songs for You Awarded £200 from ASDA Green Token Scheme page thumbnail

Songs for You, led by Arts for Health at Midland Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, has been awarded £200 from a recent green token scheme in ASDA Cannock store.

Each year ASDA invest over £1.4 million in over 4,000 good causes through their Green Token Giving Programme, giving back to organisations in their local area.

Songs for You are free fun filled singing sessions for people living well with dementia, their carers or loved ones (open to other older adults) organised by Arts For Health.

The project allows people to meet, socialise and engage in an activity in a friendly environment. People can have a good natter, cup of tea and cake and sing songs ranging from The Beatles, Presley and Sinatra to songs dating back to the 30s and 40s.

Project lead Helen Wilson says “Songs for You helps people reconnect and enjoy having quality time together. Singing is a positive and evocative tool helping people with dementia to reconnect themselves and their history through recalled songs and lyrics. These sessions are often their highlight of the week. Having this donation from ASDA Cannock will really help us to continue our sessions.”

The next session in Cannock will be on Tuesday 5th March 2019 1.30pm at St Thomas Church, Dual Way, Stafford Road, Huntington, WS12 4PD.
