Local Dietitian named as Clinical Champion by Diabetes UK page thumbnail

Lucy Marquis is an Advanced Diabetes Dietitian and works within Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s community diabetes service to provide clinics and group education for adults with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

Following a rigorous recruitment process, Diabetes UK has appointed her as one of 20 Clinical Champions from across the UK.

The vision for the Diabetes UK Clinical Champions is that they are supported by Diabetes UK to become catalysts for change, helping to improve diabetes care.

Each Champion has been selected on the basis that they demonstrated the personal skills, clinical expertise, passion and integrity to help deliver tangible improvements in care for people with diabetes. Their appointment is for two years, during which time they will receive considerable support from Diabetes UK, as well as a leadership development programme delivered by Ashridge Executive Education, an internationally renowned business school.

Lucy has a keen interest in patient-centred care and feels strongly that people should be listened to and able to make informed decisions about their treatment options.

She is particularly keen to focus on how we support the mental wellbeing of people with physical conditions such as diabetes, and how we can integrate physical and emotional care.

Lucy believes this is a great opportunity to gain new skills and also share ideas and knowledge with other Clinical Champions which can benefit local services.
