‘Hats off to Shoesbury’ exhibition celebrates creativity page thumbnail

The ‘Hats off to Shoesbury’ exhibition will be taking place at the Participate Contemporary Artspace, Riverside Shopping Centre, Raven Meadows, Shrewsbury from Tuesday 25 June to Saturday 13 July 2019.

The work has been created by people attending Wellbeing Art Groups in Shrewsbury and Telford and reflects participants’ interest in recycling, upcycling and experimentation using a range of techniques, materials and equipment.

The Wellbeing Art Groups (WAG) are led by professional artist Jean Mills.  The Shrewsbury group is funded by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s (MPFT) Arts for Health team while the Telford WAG runs on an independent voluntary basis.

Jessica Kent, MPFT Arts for Health lead says “People who attend the groups tell us that being part of a creative group, in a safe and welcoming environment, helps to keep them well.  Friendships are forged and other opportunities open up for each and every one through shared interests.

We are grateful to Participate Contemporary Arts CIC for their support and look forward to welcoming lots of local people to the exhibition.”
