A celebration of breastfeeding is taking place in Longton this week offering an opportunity for local people and health professionals to come together to share information and experiences around breastfeeding.

The Community Breastfeeding Team in Stoke-on-Trent, run by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT), is holding the Stoke-on-Trent Breastfeeding Meet & Greet event on Friday 29th June between 1pm and 4pm at Longton Community Fire Station.

The event is open to the public and there will be health professionals from the Community Breastfeeding Team in attendance, along with representatives from the charity National Childbirth Trust (NCT) North Staffordshire and the Stoke Speaks Out programme.

The aim of the event is to celebrate the benefits of breastfeeding and for the professionals to share best practice while also raising awareness of services available to breastfeeding mums in the local area.

Annette Kowarin, Breastfeeding Coordinator at MPFT, said: “The Community Breastfeeding Team at MPFT provides breastfeeding support for mothers in Stoke-on-Trent, offering a range of practical support and advice.

“The Meet & Greet event will be a great celebration of breastfeeding but also offers a fantastic opportunity for local people to come along and find out more about the services we offer, talk to like-minded people to share experiences of breastfeeding and to ask questions to a range of health professionals in attendance.”
