As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance digital engagement across the Trust, several key updates are underway within the Digital Capability Framework Programme. Recognising the need for more integrated functionality within the core clinical system, RiO, two new "Click Through" projects have been introduced to streamline processes and improve efficiency for staff.

The new RiO to Safeguard functionality will allow seamless access for staff to view and report patient incidents directly within the Trust’s Risk Management System. This will accelerate operational and clinical decision-making by providing comprehensive information at the point of care.

Additionally, the RiO to ICE (Integrated Clinical Environment) Click Through will enable clinicians to effortlessly navigate between RiO and ICE to request and view patient test results, simplifying workflows and reducing the need for multiple logins.

In other developments, the Trust has aligned RiO Roles with NHS England recommendations to ensure controlled access levels. Volunteers are being sought to pilot these new roles, which promise a smoother experience without disrupting daily activities.

Efforts are also underway to expand the use of Hybrid Mail, an initiative aimed at reducing postage costs and supporting the Trust’s sustainability goals by cutting down on paper usage.

Meanwhile, the RiO Video Consultations project, which went live in April 2024, has successfully concluded, though work continues to encourage adoption across the Trust.
